Like many of you, I’m sitting in my home, instead of at the office, writing this blog. Coronavirus-driven shelter-in-place time has prompted me to think about what the late Steven Covey (7 Habits of Highly Effective People) considered as one of his key seven habits – “sharpening the saw”. In other words, taking the time to reengage in training. Now, whether you’re at home, at the office, or still on the road – albeit at much quieter truck stops – this is a great opportunity to catch up on some of the latest training available from Bendix.

By the way, those of you driving the loads that are keeping goods on the shelves and our healthcare workers equipped – THANK YOU! Trucking truly moves America and we appreciate your service.

So, to help you spend some quality time “sharpening the saw,”, Bendix has just uploaded a number of new videos on our YouTube channel. You’ll find updated Bendix® Wingman® Fusion with Enhanced Feature Set videos for International, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Mack and Volvo trucks to help you better understand some of the latest capabilities of our newest generation of Wingman Fusion technology. Also, updated “A View From The Driver’s Seat” videos offer insight – direct from the road – about what a driver can expect the system to deliver in a few all too common roadway situations. Take some time to check these out.

In addition, last year Denise Rondini, host of our “Truck Talk with Bendix” podcast series (found here on the Bendix Knowledge Dock or via Apple Podcasts and Stitcher), and I put together a “Driver’s Insight Series” that covers a number of Bendix safety technologies, including Wingman Fusion, Wingman® Advanced, BlindSpotter®, and SafetyDirect® to name a few. Insights are delivered from the driver perspective getting into the details of what a driver can and can’t expect a system to do during an alert or intervention. Whether you’re a driver, a technician, a fleet manager, an owner-operator, or a safety lead, each podcast is packed with good advice for your operation.

These are just a couple of examples of how you might pass some time if you’re stuck in your home office, terminal, truck-stop or just driving on a less traffic-filled roadway. Not only are these (and other Bendix training opportunities via tools like brake-school.com) a fantastic way to keep the old saw sharp, but also a way to help keep you, your truck, and everyone out on the roadways a little safer.

From all of us at Bendix, be well and stay safe.
